Biographical or Historical Information

Ambrose Pilard (1814-1854) immigrated to the United States from his native France in 1839. Pilard and his family moved often, living in New Orleans, Thibodaux, Louisiana and Vincennes, Indiana where he owned a bookshop and wrote for the Vincennes Gazette. While living in Indiana, Pilard maintained correspondence with Louisiana clergy members.
